“The biggest gift you can give is to be present where you are.”
Thich Nath Hanh | Mindfulness
For years we’ve been traveling in Tanzania and observed thousands of tourists passing in their jeeps, talking to them in their lodges and luxurious resorts. What struck us was how little they seem to be really enjoying their special safaris. They even seemed to be complaining a lot which after having given it some thought, didn’t seem that strange, because they’re taking themselves on that trip!
On automatic pilot
Our daily lives are often run on automatic pilot, while our thoughts are often occupied with other things. To disappear in our thoughts has become our second nature. All those thoughts constantly cause emotions and because most thoughts are troublesome, they often create bodily tension and dissatisfaction. That mechanism won’t disappear, just because we are on a safari.
You can look at it in another way: We can eat food full of calcium which is good for our bones, but if our body doesn’t absorb the calcium, it has no use.
That’s exactly how it is during a nature travel. You can surround yourself with the most beautiful and spectacular nature and a completely new world like Tanzania, but if your head is filled with worries and concerns and your body is tense because of that, you will not be able to be part of the experience.
Mindful Adventure will take you on a beautiful adventurous safari and you won’t miss out on anything. We will support you to be attentive and enjoy the present and connect to that. Only in the present moment you can really be yourself, show yourself, be creative, meet others, respond and really enjoy!
The biggest gift to yourself and others in the group is to be present in the here and now. The more we are all attentive, the more fun we have.
