Wildpark Selous/International Music Festival Stonetown/beach/snorkeling

International Music Festival Zanzibar, Tanzania
February 9-11, 2024

For this youth trip, you must love African music and festivals. Are you between the ages of 23 and 33? And do you feel like doing something really special? Then join us on a unique, 9 day festival youth trip to Tanzania. Also a super fun trip to do with friends. Out of love for the primal beat and often ecstatic African music, we offer this occasional trip without mindfulness.

Let’s rock the rooftops of Stonetown’

Sauti za Busara is Alina’s uncomplicated foray from the inspired world of coaching, mindfulness and meditation into the exhilarating world of African music. With the help of Mindful Adventure, she has the opportunity to offer you a travel package of which Sauti za Busara, the international, African music festival on Zanzibar is the wildly beating heart. Around that, you’ll also visit a wildlife park and end with a few days of beach experiences, including snorkeling.

Voices of wisdom

Sauti za Busara means voices of wisdom and is an international music festival on Zanzibar. It takes place every year in February, in the heart of Stonetown. It has two stages to offer within the historic old fort with simultaneous all sorts of smaller activities scattered throughout atmospheric Stone Town – including a carnival street parade (Beni).

Stonetown is part of Unesco World Heritage Site, famous for its wood carved doors and narrow streets, historic buildings, great stores and (food) markets. I highly recommend all the juicy, tropical fruits and fresh seafood.

On this youth trip, Sauti za Busara treats you to musical groups from North, South, South East, East, West and Central Africa.

“The best place to experience African music is under African skies.”

At the moment, the artists for 2024 are not yet known, but you can take a look at the festival’s website to get a taste of the quality and atmosphere of this festive festival. The earlier you book this youth trip with us, the more chance you have to win two day tickets. Ticket sales are open.

Mindful Adventure’s youth trip in a nutshell

You will fly into Dar Es Salaam and spend the night in a beach hut at Kipepeo Beach village. Over the next few days you will search for lions, wild dogs, leopards, hyenas, zebras, giraffes and more wildlife in Selous game park from land and from the river on a boat safari.

You return to Dar Es Salaam to catch a flight to Zanzibar that same day. You will enjoy two days of music festival and a historical day part as the centerpiece of this trip.

Of course, you’ll spend the final act of your trip on a popular beach on the east coast. The clear turquoise sea water is going to offer you the snorkeling experience of a lifetime.

Day 1

Nothing like plopping down on the amazing beach of Kipepeo Beach Village after a long flight to Dar Es Salaam. There you get your own little beach hut, a welcome drink, you can take an evening dive in the Indian Ocean and lie down at night listening to the lapping of the crashing waves. Wow, you’re in Africa.

Day 2

Never been to a game park before? Then you will enjoy two days of game drive and boat safari in Selous where you will spot lions, leopards, zebras, elephants, rare groups of wild dogs, giraffes, impalas and more. You will camp for 2 nights and your meals will be provided by our magic safari chef.

Day 3

During the morning you will take another game drive in another part of the park and in the afternoon we will take you on a boat safari among the hippos and crocodiles.

We enjoy snacks and some drinks during a beautiful sunset on the river.

Day 4

After a relaxed breakfast, we return to Dar Es Salaam in 4 to 5 hours to catch a domestic flight to Stonetown on Zanzibar. There you will be met by Mohammed and transferred to your hotel.

Day 5

Today you have the whole day free. For example, you can chill on the beach in the morning. Then settle down somewhere for a fantastic lunch in Stonetown, anywhere you like. Recommended is a restaurant with seafood on the menu. You freshen up and use the afternoon to visit the quaint streets and stores in Stonetown. You may or may not take our guide with you. At 5 p.m. the festival opens its doors at the old fort.

Day 6

Today you are free again. Enjoy. There are smaller activities scattered around Stonetown.

Starting at 5 p.m., you are welcome back on the festival grounds.

Day 7

Historic tour in the morning with top guide Abdul. Stonetown has many historic buildings. It also played a central role in the slave trade. Later you will depart for the beach in the East of Zanzibar.

Day 8

“As I float breathlessly on the clear water, looking at that beautiful world underwater, a small deadly fish appears. She starts swimming ahead of me, looking back each time to see if I am following. She makes funny turns, disappears behind a rock and then reappears. No way, but this fish is clearly playing with me. Wow, I already don’t eat meat, but now fish is also disappearing from the menu. Unforgettable”.

Day 9

Jozani forest is a one-hour hike. It contains one of the most unusual forest forms there is, called “Mangrove” wetland. Very rewarding to walk through. You also have all kinds of monkey species here, such as Sykes monkeys and the red Colobus, which I call punkie. Other than that, feel free to have some time on the beach before you (probably) fly back home on the night flight. Also nice is a visit to the kite-surfing beach south of your hotel. You can combine it with Jozani forest.

If you prefer to take a day flight home, you have an additional half day and night on Zanzibar! Ask about the extra cost!
